Laser Questions and Answers

Q. What is laser therapy?

A. It is similar to acupuncture only more potent accurate and longer lasting. It's a holistic approach to heal the body. A low level light pulse is directed at points on the face, ears and hands.

Q. Just how does the laser work?

A.  Low-level laser therapy operates on principles similar to the 5,000 year old ancient Asian healing art of Acupuncture. Acupuncture is known to reduce tension, increase circulation, and enable the body to relax more deeply. Laser Therapy treatment is a noninvasive method used to balance the energy flow between meridians. Laser therapy is considered a non-medical procedure. Treatment with low-level laser helps to promote the release of endorphins in the body. Endorphins are natural chemicals in your body that signal your system to decrease stress and increase energy. LLLT uses a low powered (soft) laser to treat nicotine addiction. Energy points related to addiction are identified and treated with a combination of a helium neon laser and electro bio-stimulation. The entire procedure is external, non-invasive, and non-thermal. Laser Therapy is painless. During the laser treatment energy points on your hands, face, and ears are treated. If a client feels the sensation from the low-level laser, they may feel a warm, pulsating and sometimes-tingling feeling. Some clients may only feel a calming sensation from the laser. The low-level laser acts as a tool to assist the client through the initial physical withdrawals from nicotine. The first 72 hours of quitting is considered to be the crucial detoxification period. The laser mimics a similar endorphin release for a period of 7-10 days following treatment, which aids in alleviating stress associated with giving up nicotine. The treatment has been used for over three decades in Europe and Canada.

Q. Do you have more information on how laser therapy works?

A. The low power laser stimulates afferent terminations of the pain transmitting A-delta fibers in the Central Nervous System. Stimulation at specific acupuncture points causes the anterior pituitary of the brain to produce endorphins through the breakdown of a large molecular complex known as ACTH. This molecule is broken down to produce
B-endorphin and other opiates known as Enkephalins. This increased production of endorphins provides analgesic effects to combat withdrawal by binding at receptor sites of inflammation, nerve fibers and their receptive field, and
throughout the autonomic and immune systems. Endorphins also exert a powerful influence in the Central Nervous System on the Nucleus Raphe Magnus which in turn activate the descending control system resulting in inhibition of the dorsal horns and modulation of pain.

Q. How do you feel once you are treated?

A. The treatment is very relaxing and some people experience a degree of drowsiness.

Q. Where do you place the laser?

A. The laser is placed on various meridian and auricular points on the body around the ears, nose, hands, and wrists.

Q. Is it safe?

A. Low power laser light is completely safe. It is a bio-stimulation laser not a surgical laser. We are using the latest technology without needles, so it is totally painless. Your procedure will be given by a certified Laser Technician, specifically trained in low power Laser Therapy.

Q. Is it guaranteed?

A. Unfortunately, because of the complexities of the psychological side of the addiction, no one can force you to stop smoking. However, we can help you eliminate the withdrawal and physical cravings with the use of the Laser Smoking Cessation treatment, allowing you to become a non-smoker in the easiest possible way. Our technician will give you
special training to help eliminate your emotional desire to smoke and some nutritional guidelines to help your body to detoxify it’s self very quickly. As long as you want to quit, we can make it easy for you.

Q. How long will it take?

A. 30 minutes to 1 hour. There is usually only one treatment required, however if you experience an unmanageable desire to smoke, a laser enhancement treatment (booster) is available.

Q. Do you offer a discount to groups?

A. We are proud to support many local area fundraisers, so we do have an amazing offer for our Cash Coupon
customers and members. Ask how you can receive this discount immediately.  For  groups of 4 or more people, or for those that are interested in learning more about our corporate and small business rates, please ask for details.

Q. How long does the feeling of not needing a cigarette last after the treatment?

A. For most people, the physical cravings are gone for good. You will still have the mental habits to break, but we give you some great tips on how to break those habits as well.

Q. If I have a medical condition, can I still be treated?

A. If you are pregnant, or currently being treated for cancer, have a pacemaker, or have had a seizure within the last six months or have epilepsy, we regret that we are not able to treat you at this time. Not treating these particular clients is a precautionary measure. LLLT does not diagnose or treat illness or prescribe medication. Laser therapy is not intended to replace medical care. We recommend that you consult your physician for a professional diagnosis of your health.

Q. Is the treatment performed by a doctor?

A. No, it is performed by a certified laser technician.

Q. I have never heard of this treatment, who else does this?

A. This treatment has been available in Europe and Canada for over 30 years, however, the popularity of this form of treatment is growing fast. We are among the first to offer mobile treatments for laser therapy in Wisconsin.

Q. How much does the smoking cessation laser program cost?

A. The total cost of our treatment is $399.00. This includes counseling, laser treatment, plus back up support. We do offer two additional treatments within one year but rarely is a second treatment necessary.

Q. I'm concerned about gaining weight once I quit smoking cigarettes, can you do anything to help?

A. When you quit smoking your metabolism slows back down to normal. Due to the slower metabolic rate many people do gain extra weight. If weight gain concerns you we can add on "Weight Management Points". We will target an extra set of acupuncture points which will boost your metabolism as well as help to suppress your appetite. There is normally an extra charge of $60.00 for these extra "Weight Management Points". However, for a limited time will be included for free upon request only.
